Trigger Point Release

For many people the primary cause of muscular pain is myofascial trigger points. A trigger point is a contraction in only a small part of the muscle fibre. These points can be located by a trained specialist, and released through a combination of ischemic compression, and stretching. This action causes a flushing of tissue and stimulates local nerves.

Trigger points are caused by muscle abuse due to overuse, postural problems or injury. Trigger points may cause referred pain and/or compression of valves and nerves. They may affect the autonomic nervous system, movement pattern and even mood.
