Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a system of muscle testing that gives the practitioner information as to the current state of the muscles and the systems with which they work.

Hyperton-X

This is a tool for selectively diagnosing muscles or groups of muscles that are:

  • Hypertonic, such a muscle is in a constant state of contraction and therefore inactive.
  • Shortened due to injury or more often due to overhealing causing an imbalance and stressing the opposing structures.
  • Unresponsive, no longer taking part in regular movement and therefore allowing other muscles to take a larger part in actions for which they are ill designed.

Both Michele and Deanne are advanced Hyperton X practitioners, this allows them to test the muscles in various states of contraction and ensure that they are working throughout their range. It is not unusual for a muscle to be weak within just a small area of its normal range of motion and this has an effect on performance. Once located the body’s own stretch reflexes are used to reactivate these muscles and restore normal function This is an incredibly effective and unfortunately little known tool to release stress, increase flexibility and restore natural balance to the body structures. Used in conjunction with massage it can have a really dynamic effect. Expect to be manoeuvred into some interesting positions.

Muscle testing and the information gained from it can be used more holistically and Chinese acupressure points and meridian work can be added to a treatment. Muscle testing can also be an excellent way testing for food intolerances. Michele may use this ’touch-for –health’ technique if it is appropriate.
